Connections to the World #1
Kaeleigh is a sixteen year old girl with a very hard life. Her mother is never home and her father has sexually abused her for years. Kaeleigh sometimes feels like the only way to escape her life is to cut and binge. Lately for Kaeleigh this hasn't been enough to escape the pain she's living with. Kaeleigh attempts something as drastic as suicide. This is similar to another book I read called, "Thirteen Reasons Why." This book explains thirteen reasons why Hannah Baker thought suicide was her only answer. Both of these books are similar in many ways, both girls have a hard life and problems at home and with friends, and feel like the only thing to do is end there life. In, "Thirteen Reasons Why," Hannah's attempt is successful, but in "Identical," unfortunately for Kaeleigh hers is not and for awhile she continues to live with her sexually abusing father.

Was Thirteen Reasons Why any good? I've been thinking of reading it.
ReplyDeleteCorinne,
ReplyDeleteI wasn't aware that you had read Thirteen Reasons- what did you think? I know Sydney C. read it-- did you recommend it to her?
Actually, Sydney C. recommended it to me, her or Sam Saucier, and yes Aunt B it was pretty good, It was very interesting but even though I liked it sometimes hearing each reason in great detail become very slow and a little boring, but most of it was very interesting heart wrenching.
ReplyDeletehow long does she have to deal with her sexually abusive dad for?
ReplyDeleteHer sexual abuse ends where she's around 17. She goes off to live with her grandmother and her father gets the help he needs. For more information read my "Identical" summary post.
